This Quarantine really do be hittin different.
Anxiety up
Hope down
Attitude up
Motivation down
The rollercoaster that we've been on, feels like an 80 foot drop
Followed by a dive 20 feet up that ended in a belly flop.
Mother nature picked us up
Laid us across her lap
Got her favorite switch
Cause she was tired of hearing us yap.
2020 so far feels like a bad acid trip,
Murder hornets? Really?
Like, someone in the writers room is getting fired for that one.
This past month has mothers holding tight to every son
They see walking down the street,
Because no matter what we do
The police set out to beat
Us farther into the ground
That we tilled and minded for them.
400 years was the start not the finish
But within the last 4 days everyone's banding together
From Americans to the Finnish.
From the Amish to the witches.
Bloods and Crips fulfilling wishes
Of peace and prosperity.
Riots reminding y'all of when
You threw into the harbor boxes of tea.
We tried to be peaceful,
We tried to be nice
But y'all kept your knees on our neck
So we're using fire to melt your ice;
Yelling freeze after you fire
Shots into our children
Who were taught to be careful
To keep you safe and not trembling.
We have different conversations
About how to handle police -
In school Black Panthers are bad
But in the 60's they were all we had
Cause you left us dying by the hands of each other
Instead of valuing all life and seeing
That no matter the color
We are all each other's brother.
Yes, all lives matter
But until you can see that Black lives matter
Just as much cause we're
Made up of the same matter
Then no one is safe from the
Lies, the deceit, the truth of the matter:
That we've been fed fear and taught to hate.
When the only thing that can save us from the chatter
That divides us is to sit down, shut up, and listen to the patter
Of people marching up to those who led,
Of people stomping on the devil's head,
Of the last words and cries of those left for dead.
I don't care if you were raised Blue or Red
When the polls open up, you better get out of bed.
Because in this two party system
No matter which side you're on
The reality is neither will soon be gone.
We need to work together to get
People on both sides of the lawn
To put down their guns and join as one,
Because God created us all equal.
We need to know how it ends,
Cause we're already in the sequel
And they all need to know
That they were justly avenged
Say Their Names
Shout em loud
So they can hear us
Over the Trumpet
And choir in the clouds.
